SMPP

System-to-system connection for high-volume platforms.

What is it?

SMPP (Short Message Peer-to-Peer) is an open standard protocol used by the telecom industry to exchange SMS between SMS applications and short message service centres (SMSC). It is a layer 7 TCP/IP protocol that allows fast message delivery.

With e-MC, your platform connects to our SMSC using SMPP. It is the recommended mode for platforms and technical companies with significant traffic or an infrastructure that already uses SMPP. The SMPP account and documentation are provided on request.

Why a company needs it

  • Large volumes

An SMPP session is designed for the continuous exchange of large quantities of SMS, where individual HTTP calls become heavy to manage.

  • An existing infrastructure to connect

Sending platforms, in-house SMSCs, campaign tools: any system that already speaks SMPP can connect to e-MC with its existing client.

  • Exchange in both directions

Message submission, delivery reports and inbound SMS all travel over the same connection.

  • Specific technical requirements

Connection and traffic parameters are defined with your technical team rather than imposed.
