An OTP (One-Time Password) is a single-use code sent by SMS to check that a user controls the phone number linked to their account or to an operation. It is the mechanism behind sign-up verification, two-factor authentication (2FA) and payment confirmation.
In your infrastructure, your application generates and checks the code; e-MC provides the SMS channel that carries it to the phone. Your system calls the e-MC SMS API (HTTP API or SMPP), our platform routes the message to the recipient’s operator, then returns the delivery status to you.
Why use e-MC for your OTP flows?
- Traffic handled as OTP. A code has a short lifetime: it must arrive fast, under a recognisable sender. Routing can be configured specifically for this type of traffic.
- Integration that fits your system. HTTP API for your applications, SMPP for high volumes, on the same platform.
- Known African operators. Networks listed country by country, and local rules (Sender ID, formats, lead times) explained before you send.
- Visibility on every message. Delivery reports tell you whether the code arrived.
